About Cathy Knezevic

Cathy Knezevic grew up in Walkerston, a small town west of Mackay. Cathy's love of art was fostered by her work environment, which included assisting with the development of Mackay's Nationally Significant Artists' Books Collection, taking responsibility for the acquisition, documentation and preservation of the Council's art collection; and coordinating touring exhibitions received from the Queensland Art Gallery, Regional Galleries Association of Queensland, National Library of Australia, National Gallery of Australia and Flying Arts Incorporated. Cathy was the first Exhibitions Officer at Artspace Mackay and Curator of the opening exhibition, Plate to Paper which explored the use of print-making by a diverse body of Australian Artists.

In 2004, Cathy opened Arthouse Gallery Mackay, the culmination of her 30 years of experience in working with art and design. The gallery exhibits artworks by renowned and emerging Queensland and Australian artists and also specialise in original prints and artists' books. As well as owning and managing Arthouse Gallery, Cathy is an owner and partner in multi award-winning Mackay Queensland Homes, which she operates with her life partner Tom Casey. Along with Tom, Cathy has also been a patron of the arts for 30 years.

Cathy says that the greatest challenge and achievement in her life is her blended family of five wonderful children and that she could not have accomplished all she has without the support of her family - especially her mother. Patron of the arts, entrepreneur and mother, Cathy Knezevic is a truly inspiring Queensland woman!
